Bonus Gift Giving

Do You Want Your Christmas Gift Budget to Go Even Further?

How can we enjoy the gift giving season and make our gifts count for more than making the rich retailers richer?  What if we could make our gift giving count for someone in need rather than lining the pockets of corporate America? How can every dollar spent make a difference in lives, and still give a special gift at the same time?

Bonus Gift Giving!

There are multiple Christian organizations that offer unique gifts to benefit humanitarian efforts.  Jesus calls us to help the poor, feed the hungry and clothe the orphans. Instead of buying gifts from the traditional retailers, why not consider one of the following options and help those who need it most?

Gifts that Employ

You can support artisans around the world that are paid a fair wage and have humane working conditions. There are Christian organizations who employ and/or buy products from those at risk for hunger, sickness, abandonment, and/or are recovering from sex trafficking. The organizations listed below provide just that.

AIM

AIM (Agape International Missions) helps bring freedom from trafficking to women in Cambodia.  They take a holistic approach by rescuing women and girls, restoring their lives, providing employment and working with the violators to teach them about Jesus and a new way of life. AIM has an online store which sells products made by sex trafficking survivors.  These unique items are hand-crafted from the young women through AIM’s employment center as part of their mission to restore and reintegrate.

You can purchase a special gift and learn more about AIM’s mission by clicking: SHOP AIM HERE.

“He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” – Micah 6:8

Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a Christian organization that specializes in hand-packed meals for kids across the world. It is an amazing ministry to volunteer for…the whole family can participate in a food packing event. They not only feed the body but also the spirit. The organization purchases hand-made products from artisans in the local countries of need and sells them in the FMSC Market Place.

To purchase gifts and learn how you can volunteer please click here:  SHOP FMSC HERE.

“He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.” Psalm 146:7(NIV)

One Heart Collective

Over Thanksgiving break I happened to come across this sweet little store called One Heart Collective.  The store birthed from a missionary’s vision as she saw the poor and needy around the world clashing against the abundance of the average American. Americans are going to buy Christmas gifts; why not make a one-stop shop where people can buy hand-made gifts that help to employ the poor and needy in countries like Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya…and so she did!

To shop for unique gifts and learn more about this ministry click here:  SHOP ONE HERAT COLLECTIVE.  *Please note that this ministry is in the building phase and more products are being added as it grows.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the cause of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-9

Gifts of Sponsorship or Donation

Another very rewarding gift is to sponsor a child in need or make a donation in their name.  What better way to teach our own children about giving than to have them give up some gifts to provide meals, schooling and medical attentions for a child in need.

REACH

REACH (Rescue African Children) is a Christian based organization focused on rescuing orphans, street children and disadvantaged kids in Uganda. You can sponsor a child, make a donation or sponsor a pastor in the name of a family or friend as a gift. What an amazing way to give this Christmas season!

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”  James 1:27

Gifts with a Triple Bonus!

A great way to make a gift go further is to buy books that feed the mind and spirit. The gift receiver will be blessed with growing closer to God, and your gift will double in size. But add on a donation-giving book and you have tripled your gift!  Another Bonus!

WordPainters

Recently I reviewed a book called: For You Love. This is an amazing responsive prayer journal filled with God’s Word and inspiration to grow closer to Jesus. Proceeds from the sales of For You Love are used to help those who have the opportunity to love and care for orphans or vulnerable children.  I recommend buying this book for your mom, sister or best-girlfriend.

Gift Giving with Bonuses this Season

I hope this article inspires you to think about gift giving and how to get more giving out of every dollar spent. While the above list is a few of my favorites, there are many other wonderful Christian organizations that offer similar programs.

This season make gift giving count a little more!

Sincerely with Hugs,

JJ

Giving to charity can help us spread the gospel. Sometimes we don’t do it often enough, perhaps because of lean resources or forgetfulness. Thank you for this reminder, especially in this festive season.

    • JJ | 3rd Dec 17

I agree with you. It take little planning and might not be as easy as running to a store.

living humbly takes action of expressions. Glad you pointed out some of them. bless you.

      I love that bible verse!!

  7. Leigh | 6th Dec 17

I love this post and it would be great if more people considered giving to those in need rather than actual presents. My mum made the decision a few years ago to stop giving Christmas cards and to give the money she would have spent on cards to a charity of her choice instead. It’s the little things that add up!

    • JJ | 6th Dec 17

That is a great idea! Find ways to give to those really in need in lieu of the gift.

      Thats a great idea too!

  19. Lynne Harper | 12th Dec 17

The organizations like these are doing a great job. Everyone should do their bit to help the poor and needy, that’s what is a good deed all about and will bring happiness to your heart and celebrations in life.

  23. Jenny | 14th Dec 17

I love these ideas. This is what Christmas is all about. We donate to charity in lieu of sending cards

    • JJ | 14th Dec 17

That is great. I have heard more than one person say that this year! Great idea. The cards usually end up in the trash anyway 🙂
